Preapocaliptic

The PREAPOCALIPTIC project starts from waste — not as metaphor, but as a concrete point of departure: an abandoned warehouse, a ruin, a derelict plot at the heart of a city. Deindustrialized zones carry the mark of a decision — what has been deemed useless, left to decay. Many of these forms sit right at the geographic and cultural center of cities, as visible scars of a society in transition. I extracted them from their natural context and accorded them aesthetic value, transforming them into forms of artistic inquiry — the starting point of each work in the series.

The series follows its own open logic: works can be inserted at any time, anywhere, in any configuration, within the scope of my artistic concerns. I propose a question left to the viewer, not a verdict. PREAPOCALIPTIC sits at the boundary between a quotidian existence and an authentic one — sometimes inside one, sometimes inside the other, permanently outside the core problem. Like my other projects, it departs from questions about our relationship to society, to solitude, to the real present and to the one that might have been, to what we choose from a multitude of possibilities — and to the mechanisms through which we arrive, as a society, at a consensus.
